Happy School Year

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...HAPPY SCHOOL YEAR, Everyone!!!

Wednesday was my son's first day of school, hence seventh grade too. Every year, I take off from work for the first day of school. I make a special breakfast. I drive my son to school and I'm there to pick him up when school lets out. I can't wait to hear about his day and he's just as eager to tell me. Well, this year was no different. Right??? Wrong. I made breakfast and all that other good stuff; however, we usually depart with as kiss on the cheek or something, but that didn't happen. I got a hand wave. I was kidding with him when I offer to walk him to class.:)I I got this crazy look from him that said, 'you must be kidding' Then the night before I made this cute card--the one you see here. It was a surprise kinda thing. I put it in his notebook where he was sure to find it. I picked him up from school and the conversation commenced. We talked about teachers; and classes; new students, new programs and other things, but he never mentioned the card. Finally, I had to ask, 'Did you see the card I made for you?' He said he did and that he liked it. However, it wasn't something he wanted anyone to see or know he had. He said, "I wouldn't want anyone to think I was a mamma's boy. I thought, '...but, you are a mamma's boy.' :) Quietly, I thought to myself, 'Seventh grade will probably mark the year things began to change.' My little man is growing up. I asked to take a picture of his card. He didn't wait for me to return it. Instead, Kevin came looking for it. He has it tucked away somewhere.



Now about the card...

I purchased the stamp from a local craft store. It's from the Recollection Stamp Collection. I colored the image with COPIC markers. Keeping in mind the card was intended for a male, I didn't want to over do it. I layed my ribbon down flat and accented the text with Glossy Accents.

Remember Lorie, no matter how old they get, they'll always treasure everything Mom does for them. Even in seventh grade. The card is absolutely beautiful. Love the stamp too!!

What a super card! Nothing girly here. My son is 30. I understand that he keeps all my cards I send. But he does not mention how nice they are or great job on making it. I guess knowing he appreciates them and the love they are made with works for me.
