Challenges Coming Your Way

Happy Hellos Everyone:

(Please click Read More at the bottom of the post to view the OTWC Challenge entry.)
Happy MLK Day! I hope those of you--here and abroad that are able to find time today during your busy schedules to take a moment or two to reflect on the wonderful contributions Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made in such a brief period of time. Although my plans are very modest today compared to other, I hope they will prove to be impactful as my son and I sit and listen to the I Have a Dream speech and watch King, the movie and other programs that will document the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

With the exception of the challenge I entered last week, it had been months since I threw any of my cards in the 'hat.' There are several challenges that I decided to participate in, including the challenge over at Pal Paper Arts. If you're interested there's still time to participate.

This is the inspiration photo...

...and this is what I created...
Aside from using the colors required for this challenge, I wanted to create a card that could be recieved by a man or a women. So, I tried to tone the softness of the card down by including a black flower. I also thought with love comes tears that are stimulated by happy or sad emotions, so I highlighted the words many (if not all of us) would like associated with a water-like effect.

Then I hopped on over to The Play Date Cafe. I love the soft colors in their inspirational photo. Don't you?

...and below is the card I created...

I used SU's Crumb Cake cardstock; Craftbox Ink; Ranger Ink embossing powder; Stampendous (flower) Stamp; Fiskars (sentiment) Stamp; scalloped edge punch; and silk baby blue ribbon

From there, I hopped over to Waltzing Mouse Stamps. I love their sketch this week. Since I came up with another idea for this card. I'm actually considering entering another card in this week's challenge.

I wanted to use my WMS stamps since it was a WMS challenge. So, without further ado...this is what I submitted...

My WMS are limited, but I had a fun time working with what I had. I used a line of Basic Grey papers; WMS; a little bling to represent steam; SU cardstock; amd some ribbon. Every other section had been raised with SU dimenisonals for volume.

Lastly, (that is for this post), I decided to particpate in the challlenge over at Off the Wall Craftiness. It's my first time participating in one of their challenges. I have to say, 'Oh Boy!' was a suprise to see the coloring selection in their inspiration photo. It was my favorite color combination (purple & lime green).

Since this was the first time I participated in an OTW Challenge, I decided to use a stamp I nevered used before. From the inspiration photo, I was able to make this card...

Thanks for stopping by The Peddler's Gallery and come back real soon.

You've been a busy crafting bee! Love your entry for the Play Date Cafe. I lean toward clean-and-simple cards when I craft. THe blue bow gives it such softness and sophistication.

THank you for playing with us at the Cafe this week!

Well...it appears that you too have been bitten by the creativiity bug. You have been very busy young lady. All of them are great cards but my faves are for OTWC and Play Date... Ride that bug as long as you can...because we all know he's never permanent. {wink, wink}

Beautiful cards Lorie, love the ribbon and stamping for your Play Date Cafe entry, and I love the WMSC card - I'm struggling with this one I must admit, not sure what to do for it. Love the tea cup and sentiment. Hope you had a great MLK Day, I always cry when I hear that speech! xx

I just saw that technique of mixing embossing powders in the Stamp It issue and I love it. The colors you've mixed are diving and great stamp choice to do it with. Love your CAS design. So glad you played at the Play Date Cafe this week.

Wow! You have been busy! Beautiful cards. My favorite is the True Friend one. The bow on it reminds me of a butterfly. So pretty! And I like the monkeys!
