Happy Hellos Everyone:

I hope you 'Hump Day' has gotten off to a wonderful start. It's great to know the weekend is within sight. I feel as though I'm due for another one already. There's a lot already on the agenda for this weekend. Fortunately, there's a holiday tied into the weekend too.

I have another altered cigar box to share with you today. I call it my 'Ring Me' box. I designed it specifically with your rings in mind. This shallow box would sit wonderful on a dresser or table for that matter. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Okay, I had to create something using some sort of shade of the color purple.

I apologize for this photo for being so dark, but I wanted you to see the bling

 I incorporated into the uniqueness of the design as well as the button know I made.

 

 

This particular cigar box had a lid that would fall backwards as

soon as it had been release. To avoid that happening to my

recipient, I adhered a strip of ribbon connecting the lid

to the base and finished it off with a little bling.

 

As you can see, I kept the original banding. It tied into the DP so well.

I placed a ring in one of the slits to provide you with a better visual.

A Wintery Feel

Happy Hellos Everyone:

I hope you’re having one terrific Tuesday. Yesterday was such a beautiful. Hopefully, today will promise to be more of the same. Well, I hope you’re ready because as promised, I have another wonderful {okay…I’m a little bias} altered cigar box to share with you. I had a strong tie to this box instantly. I'm not sure whether it was the cool colors or the theme, but I know it will be difficult for me to let this one go.

When I created this box, I totally had cooler weather in mind. I love the feel of cool autumn days and cooler wintery evenings. If I were to keep this altered box, I would probably store hot cocoa and/or gourmet tea packets or perhaps even cool mint candies to share.

I often select a wintery theme over a Christmas theme just because the

wintery theme will run well over into the new year. In addition, I've come

to learn everyone does not celebrate Christmas. Don't you just love the

snowman's scraf? Everything appears to have blended perfectly...

even the various patterns and the silver snowflakes.

 

I thought the Tim Holtz's foundation worked well with this theme.

 

The original banding worked well with the color theme. I'm not certain whether

you noticed the word in the center of the lid, but it reads 'Authentique.'

 I never thought to use the word printed at the bottom of the DP,

 but I will from now on. It wasn't my intention to advertise the brand

name as it was to identify this altered box as being one of a kind.

This paper is black and white with a small hint of green. I didn't want to

leave it at that, so I decided to distress the papers with one of the colors of winter. 

 

Here, you're able to see the handle I created using buttons.

Distressing the edges just provides a cleaner look for a finish project.

Think Pink

Happy October Everyone!

I hope your Monday has gotten off to a fantastic start. I just love, love, love this time of the year. I don't know about your neck of the woods, but the trees have begun to turn into a wonderful fall mosaic. We're slowly, but surely preparing to celebrate the upcoming holidays beginning with Halloween. Halloween is actually one of my favorites. I would be remissed if I didn't mention we are approaching the second quarter of the football season and the Baltimore Ravens are looking pretty good. With all that being said, I wanted to kick-off the month of October highlighting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That's right! I'm thinking pink and I want you to do the same. Before long we'll all have pink thoughts.

I've created cards for this occasion, but as promised I have another altered cigar box to share with you today. Take a look...

This altered box has been titled, 'You Can Whip This.'

Of course I had surviving breast cancer in mind as I created it;

however, this is perfect for the individual that may be going through difficult times.

 I picked up a couple of wisk the other day. It's hard to find the miniture wisk when

you're looking for them. As you can see I wrapped both ribbons and netting around the

wisk and finished it off with a tag that reads, 'You Can Whip This.'

 

 



Here's a closer look. Not sure if you can tell, but I adhered a layer of DP

translucent paper over the DP for more durability and uniqueness too.

 

I know you probably have thought, she uses this ribbon quite a bit.

I have to admit, you're right. I just love all the frills. The plaid ribbon works

like a handle. Checkout the foundations. They're not Tim's. I really like the glass feet.

 

Just wanted you to see the inside.

The idea I had for this box was to fill it with 

inspirational thoughts before giving it to the recepient.

Boxes & Boxes & More Altered Boxes

Happy Hellos Everyone:

I know this is my third post of the day. Please forgive me. This is the first time in a while that I have felt like posting and had the time all at once. I believe I mentioned this is a recent post--that is I have been crafting. I just haven't an opportunity to take descent photos to share with you. There are times when I am on a role and all I want to do is simply create. Well, that's the type of roll I have been on over the last couple of weeks. I suppose now is the time I would like to share what I created with  you. Lately, I've had this desire to alter as many cigar boxes as I can and over the last two weeks, I have managed to alter nine boxes. So today, I wanted to show you one of the nine. Take a look...

 This is one of my favorite designer papers, Leon Flower Stack by DCWV.

 

 

 I suppose since it is one of my favorite papers,

 I choose note to use a lot of embellishments.

 

 

 The only embellishments I used was a little bling,

Tim Holtz's foundation and I kept the original cigar banding.

 

 

I lined the boxes with more of the coordinating papers.

 

 

This altered box is very shallow. My initial thoughts were to

use this box to store elegant paper napkins in.

However, someone else my find another use for it.

The Scrap Pad--Dover, PA

Hello Again:

As promised, this is the follow-up post to Scrappin' With the Girls, but I wanted to tell you about the place where we scrapped. I met you with Kisha, Renee and Dayo in Dover, Pennsylvania at The Scrap Pad.  Let me just say, The Scrap Pad is wonderful. It has a homey feel with great lightening and for my fellow Marylanders, The Scrap Pad was far enough away from home. It was no more than an hour's drive from home. If I'm not mistaken The Scrap Pad sleeps 10-12 of your best scrapping friends. You can bring your own food or you can have The Scrap Pad prepare the food for you. One of the perks is that there are an ample number of restaurants (sit down or fast food) for you to enjoy. Also, when coming to The Scrap Pad, keep in mind, there are so many things you will not have to bring. There are tons of Stampin' Up stamp sets, punches, papers and more to use at your disposals. It's as if, The Stamp Pad was a Stampin' Up Store.

Well, before leaving, we had already decided that we would like to return to The Scrap Pad for a weekend before the end of the year. Take a look at a few of the snapshots I managed to take.

Scrappin' With the Girls

Happy Hellos Everyone:

I hope you're have a wonderful weekend. I am. The weather in Baltimore has been wonderful. It's an exact replica of last weekend when I traveled to Dover, PA. If you were up and perhaps out by 6AM, then you know it started off on the chilly side this morning. However, by AM or so, the sun was shinning bright enough that it began to warm up. With the exception of the change in the weather, it's hard to believe in a matter of hours September 2012 will be a memory. I must say, several memorable moments have taken place this month. From the start of high school, this has been one busy month filled with plenty of activities. To tell the truth, activities I am referring to all have Kevin's name written all over them. I may have had one or two.

This time last week we both had an activity. His was in Baltimore and as I mentioned previously, I was in Dover, PA. I met up with my friends Dayo and Renee to celebrate Kisha's 40th birthday. We had a terrific time scrapping and making cards. Once again, I didn't get much accomplished...to much taking was going on ;) Surprisingly, I didn't make one card. My mind was all over the place, but, Kisha managed to create several cards. Take a look at the photos I took to commemorate our day.

 I called this photo 'Super Mom.' Dayo is a new mom all of approximately

three months. She was working it out. It was amazing to see her do this.

You would have thought she was a mother of three or four children. You Go Girl.

Kisha, the birthday girl is hard at work. 

 

You know when you're creating cards or scrapping for that matter,

 you have to get in the mood for the theme you are creating for.

Let me just say.... How about those Baltimore Ravens!!! How about those Baltimore Orioles!!! It's just a terrific day in Birdland.

It's also a day of rememberance too. Whenever I think of 9/11, I can always recall where I was and what I was doing the moment the twin towers were hit.

This past weekend, I began perparing to a couple of festivals I'm looking forward to taking part in over the next couple of months. I just wanted to share one of the cards I made this weekend.

Made with Him in Mind

Happy Hellos Everyone:

I hope you’re having an awesome Thursday. The weekend is almost here and boy do I think I could use a weekend about now. If you read the previous post....well, this is just an extension. Yesterday almost had a feel of Ground Hog's Day. Picture this. I'm on my way to a band parent's meeting after leaving work and my car had an uneasy feeling. Within 15 miles the car had the feel of a milkshake. It was shaking so bad, I couldn't see the cars from my driver's side mirror clearly. They were shaking too. Perhaps it was an earthquake. Not. I was the only one experiencing this quake. I pulled over and requested a tow. After approximately 1.5 hours, it finally arrived. The driver did a quick inspection of my car and informed me the reason why my car shook so volatile was because there was only one lug nut barley holding the passenger side wheel onto the car. Now, how did that happen?

At this point I need a little fun and today’s card is a fun kinda card. This is a card I have wanted to make for a while. It just so happened Jolie embellishments were on sale for 50% off several months ago and I could not resist. Not only was this a fun card to make, but it’s a perfect card for that guy you want to express birthday greetings to.

The next time I attempt to make this hairy card, I think I may spray a little

 hairspray on the mustaches before applying them to the card stock.

First Day of High School

Happy Hellos Everyone:

I hope all is well with you. So many of you got to experience the start of the 2012-2013 school year with your child(ren) last week. Well, I had to wait until this morning. Today was my son's first day of high school. He's officially a freshman. Sounds pretty simple right. That's what I thought too.  We wanted to start the year off of the right foot. So, I prep breakfast the night before; clothes are laid out; book bag is packed; and we leave for school in a timely manner. We get onto the highway and there's a major backup. Only one lane is moving, but progressively slow. So, I decided to exit the highway and travel through the city. Wrong!!! Time is passing and we traveling pretty well until I hit the curb when making a left turn and put a massive hole in my tire. Now, we're really late. Homeroom is over and the tow truck that was on the way turns into a man in a white car that arrives to change the tire. The doughnut tire is put on the car, but there's no air in the tire. I drive all of 50 yards to the service station and the tire has begun to come away from the rim. We're at the service station and learn the mechanic hasn't arrived and the guy is hopeful he's on the way. By now, we're really late. Second period has begun and I make a call. Someone picks up Kevin and takes him to school instead. I eventually made it to work. All I could do was smile through the morning's events. Tomorrow promises to be better.

Every year a make a special card for my son. I usually place the card in his backpack for him to discover at some point during the day. Take a look....

My son loves literature and I love this line from Basic Gray.

 

 Kevin asked my what the clock represented and I told him the

 clock was a reminder that the every thing you do from this point on

 counts towards the college you would like to attend.

 

 

I put a special note inside for his eyes only.

 

 

I managed to take a few back-to-school snapshots. 

 

 I got the scary teeth picture.

 

Then I got the Forrest Gump pose.

 

After that, I got the nervous freshman look.
